Search World War I 1914-1918 Royal Navy Deaths, database covers 1913 - 1921 includes the Royal Naval Air Service RNAS on Familyrelatives.com

World War I, also known as the First World War, the Great War, the War of the Nations, and the War to End All Wars.

It was a world conflict which lasted over four years from August 1914 to November 11, 1918 - the day of Armistice when hostilities ended and the Allies achieved victory.

The Allied Powers principally the British Empire, France and the United States defeated the Central Powers of Europe - Germany, the Austro-Hungarian and the Ottoman Empire.

The number of World War I casualties is a subject of much debate although some estimates put the figure as high as 37 million (military and civilian) casualties with over 22 million wounded and some 15 million killed.
The number of military deaths is put at approximately 9 million with the Allied Powers losing some 5 million soldiers.

The Royal Naval Air Service or RNAS was the air arm of the Royal Navy until the end of the First World War, when it merged with the British Army's Royal Flying Corps to form a new service the Royal Air Force

Search the Royal Navy records on the following criteria

· 1st Name
· Ship
· Number
· Rank
· Year
 

Enter  variants of Unit/Squadron/Ship for instance;
Royal Naval Air Service or R N A S
R Lancs  for The King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment)
KRRC for THE KING'S ROYAL RIFLE CORPS 

Use the wildcard for Army Units i.e. %Lancers for 9th, 16th, 21 Lancers

The data is fully transcribed and therefore easier to search

includes the Royal Naval Air Service RNAS

Separate indexes of armed forces deaths have been kept since 1761. Following the War Office and Admiralty procedures for reporting, verifying and notifying next of kin of a death or presumed death, these events were recorded in consolidated registers by the General Register Office for England and Wales, but covering the whole of the UK for the period 1913 to 1921.
